Top Set puts proven strength training programs in your pocket with intelligent auto-regulation that adapts to your performance. Whether you’re just starting your lifting journey or pushing toward advanced goals, Top Set guides you through every rep.

Why I Built This

I built Top Set Training because I was dissatisfied with all the other lifting apps out there. It’s too hard to switch between programs and save your progress, and the programs I wanted to run most—especially ones with auto-regulation—weren’t supported in any existing app. So I built my own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which program should I start with? If you’re new to lifting, start with StrongLifts 5×5 or Starting Strength. For intermediate lifters, GZCLP or 5/3/1 BBB are excellent choices. Use the in-app program quiz if you’re unsure.

How does auto-regulation work? When you complete an AMRAP (As Many Reps As Possible) set, log your actual reps. Top Set uses this performance data to automatically adjust your training max for the next cycle—increasing weight when you exceed expectations and backing off when needed.

Can I switch programs mid-cycle? Yes! Your training maxes and lift history are preserved when you switch programs. You can pick up a new program anytime without losing your progress.

How do I add accessory exercises? After your main lifts, you can add accessories from the exercise library. Accessories can be supersetted during rest periods to save time.

Can I create my own program? Yes, you can build custom workout templates using the template builder. Create your own set/rep schemes and progression rules.

Is my data backed up? All workout data is stored locally on your device. You can export your data as CSV at any time for backup or analysis.

Does the rest timer work in the background? Yes, the rest timer continues running with Lock Screen and Dynamic Island support so you can see your rest time without opening the app.

Troubleshooting

My training max seems wrong? You can manually adjust your training max for any lift in the settings. Go to the lift details and edit your TM directly.

Workout not saving? Make sure you tap the complete/save button after finishing your workout. Workouts in progress are saved automatically, but must be marked complete to appear in history.

App crashing or freezing? Try closing and reopening the app. If the problem persists, try deleting and reinstalling the app. Consider exporting your data first as a backup.
