Frequently Asked Questions
How do I log a round? Tap the “New Round” button, select your course, and start logging. For each hole, tap to record your score, fairway hit, green in regulation, putts, and any penalties. Swipe left or right to move between holes.
What statistics does GreenGauge track? GreenGauge tracks scoring average, fairways hit percentage, greens in regulation, putts per round, putts per GIR, scrambling percentage, and much more. You’ll also see detailed miss patterns for drives and approach shots.
How do the coaching insights work? GreenGauge analyzes your performance data to identify patterns and opportunities for improvement. For example, if you’re consistently missing greens in a particular direction, the app will flag this and suggest focused practice areas.
Can I use the app without an internet connection? Yes! GreenGauge works completely offline. All data is stored locally on your device. Internet is only needed for searching and downloading new courses.
How does iCloud sync work? When enabled, GreenGauge automatically syncs your rounds and statistics to your personal iCloud account. This allows you to access your data on any device signed in with the same Apple ID.
Can I export my data? Yes, you can export all your round data to CSV format from the app’s settings. This allows you to perform custom analysis in Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet tools.
Is my data backed up? When iCloud sync is enabled, all your round data is automatically backed up to your personal iCloud account. Data is not shared with any third parties or the app developer.
Troubleshooting
Course not appearing in search? Make sure you have an internet connection when searching for courses. If a course still doesn’t appear, you can add it manually with custom details.
iCloud sync not working? Verify that you’re signed in to iCloud on your device (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud) and that iCloud Drive is enabled. Make sure GreenGauge has permission to use iCloud in Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > GreenGauge.
Charts or stats not loading? Try pulling down on the stats page to refresh. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app.
App crashing or freezing? Try closing and reopening the app. If the problem persists, try deleting and reinstalling the app. Your data should be preserved if iCloud sync is enabled, but it’s recommended to export your data first as a backup.

Privacy
GreenGauge stores all your round data locally on your device and optionally syncs to your personal iCloud account.
AI Insights: When you use the automated coaching insights feature, your performance statistics are transmitted to Firebase and OpenAI to generate personalized recommendations. This data is used only to generate insights and is not stored or retained by the app developer. The data transmitted includes your golf statistics (scores, fairways hit, putts, etc.) but does not include personally identifiable information like your name or email.
Your golf performance data is never sold to third parties or used for any purpose other than generating your insights. For more details, see the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
